Dongmin Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Mississippi State University. She received her B.S. degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Dalian University of Technology in China and her M.S. degree in Statistics from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Machine Learning from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Her research integrates advanced statistical, optimization, and machine learning methods for data analysis and decision-making in complex systems. She addresses limited data availability and data complexity by leveraging available data together with system knowledge, such as spatial correlations and governing physics, for accurate system evaluation and prediction, real-time monitoring, and adaptive resource allocation. With a focus on both theoretical guarantees and practical effectiveness, her work has wide applications in areas such as manufacturing, environmental, and service systems.
Her publications have appeared in journals such as Technometrics, IISE Transactions, and the European Journal of Operational Research. She has received multiple best paper and data competition awards, including Best Paper finalist awards from the INFORMS Quality, Statistics and Reliability Section and Data Mining Society, as well as data challenge awards from INFORMS QSR and the IEEE Power Electronics Society. Her research has also been featured in ISE Magazine and Advances in Engineering.
