Ryan Feng Lin, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) Department at Mississippi State University, where he leads the MAPLES Lab. He completed his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering at the University of Washington, where he was advised by Dr. Shuai Huang. Prior to that, he received his M.Eng. degree in computer science in 2020 and B.S. degree in statistics (with a dual degree in computer science) in 2017 from the University of Science and Technology of China. He has also spent time at Mayo Clinic and Meta.

Lin’s research interests lie at the intersection of AI, statistics and quality science. He develops application-driven methodologies for human-centered AI and personalized digital twins, covering topics such as generative AI, personalization, uncertainty quantification, trustworthy machine learning, experimental design, behavior modeling, and recommendation systems. His work spans applications in healthcare, transportation and other sociotechnical systems.

Lin is currently an active member of INFORMS, IISE, IEEE and ASA. His research appears in journals such as INFORMS Journal on Data Science, IISE Transactions, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, as well as top-tier conferences such as NeurIPS, WWW and KDD. He has received multiple best paper and best student paper awards from the INFORMS QSR Society and the IISE DAIS Division.
